Step-by-Step Guide

Enter Your Class Name

Type in the name of your class or a short abbreviation so you can keep track of which grade belongs to which subject.

Select Your Letter Grade

Choose your grade from the dropdown menu. If you only have a percentage score, use a grade conversion chart to find the matching letter grade first.

Enter Your Credit Hours

Input how many credits the class is worth — most classes are 1 credit, but some electives or half-year courses may be worth less.

Add More Classes

Click Add Class to enter additional courses for the same semester.

Add More Semesters

Once you've entered all your classes for one semester, click Add Semester to start a new one and keep building your full GPA record.

Weighted vs. Unweighted GPA

There are two main ways schools calculate GPA: weighted and unweighted. Both use the same basic formula:

Total Grade Points ÷ Number of Classes = GPA

An unweighted GPA treats every class the same, regardless of difficulty, and is usually on a 4.0 scale.
A weighted GPA gives extra points for harder classes like Honors, AP, or IB courses, which can push your GPA above 4.0.
